Birdlife in Papua New Guinea probably portrays the various rich traditional PNG cultures in different
locations of this vastly forested country.
The opportunity for birdwatchers is endless as Papua New Guinea hosts such a thriving bird
population due to specific habits and climates favoured by endemic species and the lack of predatory animals.
Birding is available throughout the country from coastal and island locations right up to the rugged
peaks of the highlands with diversity of birdlife throughout.
Papua New Guinea is particularly famous for endemic species such as the Raggina and Blue Birds of
Paradise and rare finds including the Fire maned Bowerbird.
One special threat is that visitors are excited by the prospect of sighting any special species from the
enigmatic Crested Berrypecker to the elusively rare Becks Petrel to the stunning Victoria Crowned
Pigeon.
Tour operators run specific birding tours mainly during the dry season, from June to October,
however independent birding journeys are available anytime.
Only here in my Amazing Paradise!!!
