Hawaii Island of Manus, where the sea breaks on live ammunition

I hired a boat for K100 to take me to Hawaii Island, about 20 minutes east of Lorengau. It actually doesn’t cost that much to get out there, maybe K20 at the most, but I wanted to wander around the other islands sightseeing as well.

Cycling in Manus – From Lorengau to the Loniu Caves

Cycling in Manus.

The roads in Manus, by PNG standards, are in great condition and are sealed mainly in town and along the way to Momote airport, though there are portions that are just plain gravel or ‘karanas’ in pidgin. I cycled from Lorengau to Lonui to visit the caves there, it took me about 45 minutes to get there, on the way I cycled through fairly flat portions of the road and up hills to breath taking views of the sea, islands and jungles of this side of Manus Island.
